An inside interview with LocateADoc.com
What is your charity organization of choice and why?
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) - Just two years ago, my son was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes (Type 1), and I am now passionate about helping to find a cure and actively involved in that pursuit.
What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
I tell people that if the eyes are the windows to the soul, the frames around the windows should be as beautiful as possible. Oculoplastic surgery allows me to create more beautiful frames so that people's eyes better reflect who they really are on the inside.
When (your age) did you first realize you wanted to become a surgeon? And did you experience anything in particular to motivate you to achieve this prestigious goal?
I've known that I wanted to be a surgeon since I was seven. I gravitated toward ophthalmology in medical school and found my passion in oculoplastics during my fellowship.
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
I am and always will be passionate about eyelid surgery, either functional or cosmetic. So much can be said by looking at someome's eyes, and if I can help beautify that appearance, I am all the more satisfied and take pride in that accomplishment.
