Educational Background

• Dr. Pitman completed his undergraduate work at Northwestern University where he received two degrees, one in Psychology and the second in Biology.
• Attended The College of William and Mary where he served as an instructor in Biology and completed his masters degree in endocrinology.
• Attended the University of Virginia where he obtained his Medical Degree.
• He attended the University of Colorado where he completed his training in both General Surgery and completed a two year Burn Fellowship.

• Won the Moyer and Eisman awards for his work in Burns and Plastic Surgery.
• Completed his training in Plastic Surgery at Northwestern University. 
• Started his own private practice in Williamsburg, Newport News, and Gloucester in 1995.
• Currently a preceptor at Eastern Virginia School of Medicine and proudly serves in the United States Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel.
• Recently completed his fourth tour of active duty treating wounded soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
• Currently serves on five committees for the
  
• American Society of Plastic Surgery,
  
• the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation,
  
• and the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities.
• Teaches two courses at the American Society or Plastic Surgeons in operating room accreditation and safety
• Has given over 20 national presentations and published over 25 articles and abstracts.
• Has made appearances on MTV’s “I Want a Famous Face”, NBC and ABC.

It is Dr. Pitman's desire to have a practice that never loses the "personal touch" with his patients while bringing national recognition to his community and colleagues.
