An inside interview with LocateADoc.com
Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
I have had so many patients whose joy has reminded me why I chose this career, that it is hard to pick one experience. I have seen patients weep out of pure joy when a major area of concern has been addressed, and I can't help but be thankful that I played a role in such a positive change in their lives.
What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
I have always had an appreciation for beauty, and my passion is making things and people beautiful. I am a visual perfectionist and plastic surgery allows me to fuse craftmanship with technology and artistry.
Finish this sentence: If I weren't a doctor I would be___.
A lot of things! Joking aside, I love what I do. There is nothing I would choose over being a plastic surgeon.
When (your age) did you first realize you wanted to become a surgeon? And did you experience anything in particular to motivate you to achieve this prestigious goal?
I've always wanted to help people. I knew in grade school that I wanted to be a surgeon. One significant and motivational moment for me was as a child, another child in my class had a cleft lip, and I wanted to help other kids with cleft lip.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
A perfect outcome is when the patient's results are exactly what she/he expected based on our communication. This is why communication between doctor and patient is so imperative in the initial consultation. Your result should never be a surprise.
