An inside interview with LocateADoc.com
Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
Seeing how each patient's life has been enhanced by whichever procedure they have chosen, knowing that with our guidance they had made the decision that was right for them, has always been the greatest reward.
What is your charity organization of choice and why?
Giving so much time and effort to Interplast, with their mission of operating upon disadvantaged children without access to such care, has been my favorite.
What does living in the Cleveland community mean to you?
Friendship with so many of the nicest people one could ever hope to meet, in a city with easy access to the finest museums, symphony, sports activities, and great restaurants.
What is your favorite quote or saying?
It is the time and care one devotes to others that makes one's life worthwhile.
What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
The ability to combine my visual senses, artistic vision, and surgical dexterity in order to help each patient obtain the result they want.
Finish this sentence: If I weren't a doctor I would be___.
An artist and pilot.
When (your age) did you first realize you wanted to become a surgeon? And did you experience anything in particular to motivate you to achieve this prestigious goal?
After internship I volunteered in Africa with the Flying Doctor Service, where I saw many people that I wanted to help, and was inspired by the plastic surgeons who came over to volunteer their time and expertise.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
The perfect outcome is having a patient who is clearly very happy with the result, a smile, referral of a friend, perhaps a card. We treasure the many cards we receive and display them proudly in a special place.
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
Over the years I have narrowed my focus by discontinuing any procedures that were not favorites, and all the procedures I now do are my favorite ones.
What procedure would you like to do more of and why?
More of all those procedures that I do now because they are my favorites!
In a perfect world, when would you like to retire, where would you go and what would you do?
I am too busy enjoying the journey to be preoccupied about the destination, although I would hope the future includes plenty of chocolate.
