Neck Lift
61 year old, Female, Fair skin tone
Mini-Necklift (Submentoplasty) and Fat-Transfer to the Left Smile Line. This patient wanted an improvement in her neck. She had a prior history of a Bell's Palsy (Temporary Facial Paralysis) on the right side of her face. This created a "synkinesis" on the right side of her face. Synkinesis is a term used to describe the an abnormal facial movement that occurs when the Bell's Palsy resolves. What happens is when the person closes their eyes other parts of their face moves. Her right neck muscle band, also known as the platysma muscle, has become thicken and is tenting through her neck skin causing her chin/neck angle to become blunted. Notice that her smile lines on her left side of her face are deeper. Because of the right sided facial paralysis her right facial muscles are weaker than her left side and the lines on her right side are not as apparent. With the fat that was removed from her neck during the mini-necklift, then injected into the left smile to soften the line.
