Dr. Vela is well known to spend large amounts of individual time with his patients during their consultations. He believes in education, maintenance, and prevention. He, along with his staff at Prestige Plastic Surgery, focuses on the individual and all aspects of their care. Dr. Vela is one of the most highly trained plastic surgeons in the area. He is Chairman of the Sub-Department of Plastic Surgery at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.  Dr. Vela is an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His expansive surgical training allowed him to educate and train other plastic surgeons and physicians on plastic surgical techniques. He routinely lectures and trains physicians on contemporary plastic surgery. 

Gary A. Vela, M.D., founded Prestige Plastic Surgery after several years of practicing plastic surgery. Dr. Vela found that patients desired improvement that produced self-confidence. Rather than simple vanity, patients desired to feel better about themselves. Prestige Plastic Surgery is dedicated to helping you feel and look your best. We strive to provide excellent care with close personal attention. With an emphasis on quality care, patients are treated with compassion, in a setting of confidentiality.

Prestige Patient Care Coordinators are a vital part of the process for patients. All patients are given the opportunity to explore the many options for their treatment. Patients have the opportunity for several visits prior to their procedures, to gain a complete understanding of the proposed treatment. All aspects of care are covered, including the routine course of healing, anticipated time-off from work or play, the costs related to the procedure, and financial arrangements. A personal coordinator will work with patient from the initial consult, through financing, pre and post operative care, to maintenance.

At every step, Dr. Vela is available to his patients. His personal belief that all patients should have access to him is demonstrated by his close personal attention to their needs. Dr. Vela’s belief that “patients are like family” is well demonstrated by his ongoing phone calls, follow-ups, and even house calls to those in need.
