After graduating with honors from the University of Buffalo(New York), Dr. Mausner received his medical degree with honors in 1979. He completed a 5 year surgical residency at Stonybrook University Medical Center (New York) to become Chief Resident.Dr. Mausner continued his surgical training as a Fellow in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Georgetown University Medical Center (Washington,D.C. 1986).

Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
After developing the "Mommy Makeover" procedure, I have seen the exciting improvements in a woman's beauty and sense of self-esteem......bringing her body contours back to her 'pre-baby' figure.....and in many cases actually better than before!
For women who have lost a significant amount of weight but have loose skin remaining, it is a joy to see their smiling faces after a tummy tightening, armlift or face/necklift.
What is your charity organization of choice and why?
Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance
Since 1989 Dr. Mausner has treated hundreds of children and adults with Tuberous Sclerosis. Not satisfied with the results of treatment and the high complications rate associated with earlier techniques, Dr. Mausner has developed a unique treatment regimen to allow these children and adults to look more 'normal' and return their self-esteem. Using a series of lasers both the vascular (red color) and the fibrous component (raised portion) of the Angiofibromas of the face can be successfully treat at one time!

Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
A perfect outcome of surgery is when both the patient and I are extremely happy with the results. Because of my extensive experience, I am much more critical of my results than a patient can be so I aim high for a perfect result. But as important as the final outcome, I believe the "journey" - the entire experience from consult to final healing - should be as wonderful as the final result!
