An inside interview with LocateADoc.com
Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
One of my most rewarding patient experiences was working with a young woman who was bit on the face by a dog. She came to me in tears with a very bad injury to her lip. The bite removed almost half of her upper lip. With some reassurance and a surgery later, she has her lip back, along with her self confidence. That is a big part of why I became a plastic surgeon.
What does living in the Atlanta community mean to you?
It means living in a vibrant, growing community with great diversity and some of the most friendly people in the country. I like the food too!!
What is your favorite quote or saying?
Always try your best, no matter what.
What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
I always enjoyed building, sculpting, and drawing things. As a kid, I would build radio control airplanes from scratch, and sketch everything before I would build it. I truly believe you have never really looked at something closely until you have drawn it. It is the ability of your hands to translate what's in your mind. This is very similar to plastic surgery.
Finish this sentence: If I weren't a doctor I would be___.
A Formula One race car driver.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
A perfect outcome is one that has a happy patient and surgeon. I want my patients to look and feel refreshed and youthful, but still maintain a natural appearance.
In a perfect world, when would you like to retire, where would you go and what would you do?
I would say in my sixties, but this is not a job or career for me, this is what I love to do. Its hard to imagine a time when I will not be a surgeon and a physician. I would miss the patient contact and the satisfaction it brings.
