"Your cosmetic surgery procedure shouldn't stick out like a sore thumb"

The mission of Dr. Luria and his plastic surgery practice is to bring the best possible surgery and patient care to the patient, remain at the leading edge of Board Certification in Plastic Surgery and the American Association of Aesthetic Surgery guidelines, and offer the the safest, professional care available in the United States.

Dr. Luria can lift more than your spirits. After a serious car accident in 2001, I endured a long recovery process. Confined to a wheel chair for almost six months and two years of numerous surgeriesm it put a halt to by busy life which included a fast-growing business and the completion of my PHD. I finally left the wheel chair, finished by PHD, and I am now working as a Business Designer and Developer, but I was left with some negative side effects of the accident. I wanted to feel more confident about my appearence. I wanted a fresher andmore vibrant image to reflect my new enthusiasm. After researching surgeons, I chose Dr. Luria. All I had to do was simply meet him, and I knew he was the plastic surgeon for me. Dr. Luria understood that my confidence in my appearence should be on par with the confidence I have in my professional ablilites. In his expert hands and with the support of a exemplary staff, the entire experience was professinal and caring. They were all right beside me every step of the way. So, whether I am on a construction site in blue jeans, in a boardroom in a business suit, or in a dress at a charity event, I feel very confident....thanks to Dr. Luria.

The field of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery combines both the artistic and scientific parts of medicine. This is true whether the surgeon is undertaking a complex reconstructive procedure or one that improves the appearance of a healthy patient. Today many techniques that were traditionally either reconstructive or aesthetic are now applied to both aspects of the specialty. This improves the quality and safety of reconstructions being performed today, as well as improving the caliber of cosmetic surgical results by applying techniques and knowledge gained from reconstructive procedures.

Cosmetic surgery has helped improve the appearance of congenital and traumatic deformity. It can reverse the signs of aging. Structures that are stretched out can be returned to there youthful shape. Unwanted fat can be removed.

Plastic and Reconstructive surgeons have always been on the leading edge of innovation in surgery. It was our specialty that opened up the entire field of transplant surgery. Starting with the skin grafting of burn patients, which has ultimately lead to organ transplantation. Many other fields, such as micro vascular surgery and laser surgery, got their early acceptance due to the work done by plastic surgeons.

Today, there are thousands of well trained, Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons throughout the United States . These surgeons, in addition to performing cosmetic surgery, also treat breast cancer, skin cancer and soft tissue tumors, maxi facial trauma (facial bone fractures), birth defects, acute burns and old burn scars, general wound care and perform hand surgery.

The plastic surgeon of today has a variety of tools at his disposal. These tools include liposuction machines, lasers for resurfacing, scar revision and tattoo removal, surgical microscopes, endoscopes, etc. This equipment, combined with new techniques for grafting and using synthetic implants has opened many avenues to the surgeon to help him find solutions for complex problems.

Plastic and Reconstructive surgeons also support medical research with both their time and money by sending teams of surgeons around the world to help the less fortunate. I have enjoyed participating in both of these activities over the years. We also staff educational programs at a number of universities, publish several journals available around the world and contribute to the well-being of our communities by volunteering many hours of our time to our local hospitals. It is truly unfortunate that the public is only exposed to a small part of what the 8,000+ plastic and reconstructive surgeons in America do daily in the lives of the citizens in our country.

In the future, I hope to share both insights and experiences with those of you who would like to know more about plastic surgery and healthcare in general.

Some of our most asked about procedures: Breast Augmentation (Breast Implants), Abdomen, Breast Lift Surgery, Breast Reduction Surgery, Gynecomastia (Male Breast Reduction).
