Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
My brother, who is also a plastic surgeon, and I worked with a team of surgeons to correct a severe craniofacial deformity on a child from Kenya. The surgery was 22 hours long and we all donated our time. This was a wonderfuld experience.
What is your charity organization of choice and why?
Operacion Esperanza (Operation Hope). Provides free cleft lip and palalate care to children in Ecuador. I have participated three times.
What is your favorite quote or saying?
The necessary ingredients for enjoying success are:

What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
Facial plastic surgery is the perfect field for me because it is a unique combination of art, science, and the enjoyment of getting to know my patients.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
The perfect outcome is an excellent surgical result with a completely satisfied patient.
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
Rhinoplasty and facelifts. Rhinoplasty is such a challenging procedure to perfect. I map out the surgical procedure after each and every rhinoplasty I perform so I can learn which technique works the best. Cosmetic rhinoplasty in combination with improvement in breathing is very satisfying to patients. I like performing rhinoplasty because other surgeons don't want to do them, especially revision procedures.
I enjoy perfoming facelifts because of the dramatic, youthful, yet natural results. I have developed a new technique using radiofrquency waves to sculpt the fat of the neck. I also recycle the patiet's own tissue to enhance the nasolabial folds and lips to give a better overall result. I also believe than improving the quality of the skin gives better results; I have two great aestheticians who help patients improve their skin before and after surgery.
What procedure would you like to do more of and why?
I would like to do more rhinplasties and facelifts!
