When (your age) did you first realize you wanted to become a surgeon? And did you experience anything in particular to motivate you to achieve this prestigious goal?
I was six years old and living in the small country town of Gonzales, LA.
I had just been to see the doctor and as I was leaving the office, the doctor told me that I was "a good boy", "a good patient". It made me feel really good about myself and I came home and told my parents that I wanted to be a doctor.
As I grew older, the doctor became my mentor and facilitated my interest in the medical industry.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
A perfect outcome is achieved when the the aesthetic improvement pleases both the patient and the surgeon, with a minimal and smooth recovery time.
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
Rhinoplasty and Liposuction. I am an extremely detailed-oriented individual and a perfectionist when it comes to my work. Achieving a great result in either of these procedures requires a high degree of skill, artistry and expertise. I derive maximum satisfaction when the outcome surpasses the patients' expectations.
What procedure would you like to do more of and why?
Rhinoplasty and Liposuction.(see answer to last question) They are my favorite to perform.
In a perfect world, when would you like to retire, where would you go and what would you do?
I would retire when I physically could no longer work or if I ever lost the joy of making people look and feel better about themselves.
I have had the great fortune of living and practicing medicine in beautiful San Diego county for many years. I am an active member of the community and plan on enjoying my retirement years right here. I am an avid golfer, tennis player and traveling buff and hope to devote more time to all of those pursuits. Additionally, I envision continuing my education with courses in art,history,and cooking.
