Educational Background
Robert W. Sheffield, M.D. is board certified in both plastic and reconstructive surgery and otolaryngology (ENT). A third generation physician, Dr. Sheffield has been practicing plastic surgery since 1983. He graduated from the University of Tennessee Medical School, Memphis, Tennessee in 1969. He interned at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, and received specialty training at the University of Florida, Gainesville, He completed his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas in 1983. He remained active on the teaching staff at the University of Texas as an assistant professor from 1983 through 1986. He was one of the original members of the teaching faculty for the annual Rhinoplasty Symposium. He continued as a clinical instructor in plastic surgery while in private practice in Dallas, until 1991 when he relocated to California. He has published articles in plastic surgery and presented widely on topics of aesthetic plastic surgery.
