Following medical school graduation in 1961, he completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. After a course in Basic Ophthalmic Sciences at Harvard, he completed a residency in ophthalmology at The Bronx Municipal Hospital Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
