Dr. Dexter Turnquest is a board certified general and bariatric surgeon who has practiced in the Northwest Houston area for the past 13 years. Dr. Turnquest is known for his dedication to his patients and excellent surgical skill. He has been honored by Texas Monthly Magazine in its Top Doctors in Texas listing for the past three consecutive years (peer nominated), in H Magazine's Top Doctors in Houston as well as many additional honors.
Dr. Turnquest has served as Chairman of Surgical Department, Chief of Staff and currently is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Medical Director of the bariatric program at Houston Northwest Medical Center Hospital. He is the immediate Past President of the North Branch of the Harris County Medical Society and has served on the board of The Harris County Medical Society as well as the Houston Academy of Medicine.
Dr. Turnquest completed his medical school training at The University of Texas Medical Health Science Center in Houston. During his training he has performed many open as well as laparoscopic weight loss procedures under the guidance of Dr. Frank Moody (one of the pioneers in the field). Since his completion in 1995 Dr. Turnquest has performed over 800 weight loss procedures with no significant complications to date. He performs the lapband procedure, gastric bypass, revision for failed procedures and gastric sleeve procedures for weight loss. |
