Charlie was born in Dyer, Tennessee and spent most of his childhood and adolescent years in Memphis pursuing team sport events. The son of a Baptist minister, he was guided by his mother to follow that path, but found his own inclination was to pursue athletics and secular academics. After a college baseball career did not allow for advancement he dedicated himself to a medical education.

Dr. Wingo has operated on me 3 times and all of the surgeries turned out wonderfully well- he is caring, compasionate and I think the world of him!!
-M, Tallahassee FL
Dr. Charles Wingo has over 30 years of experience in the surgical treatment of spinal motion problems.
You will find that Dr. Wingo takes the time to listen to your symptoms, do a complete physical examination with image evaluation; and then give you a definitive diagnosis. He will explain all the treatment options available. You'll be receiving the benefits of Dr. Wingo's many years of experience, as well as the newest innovations in spinal technology
If surgical reconstruction after nerve decompression is indicated, Dr. Wingo will suggest a motion sparing procedure if there is no significant spinal instability. At one level, an Archus Total Facet Arthroplasty as part of an FDA study may be the best option; in two levels an N Fix II; or if three or four levels are involved, a Dynesys stabilization is probably the preferred choice. If you are young and have a genetic predisposition to disc degeneration without actual nerve root impingement, a Charite Total Disc Replacement is one of the surgical options.
Every reconstructive surgery will require an exercise rehabilitation with a full body fitness workout program for at least three months to achieve maximum results.
