Joseph is a NY State Licensed Acupuncturist and a Licensed Massage Therapist who studied acupuncture at Tri State College of Acupuncture. Joseph practices Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). He also specializes in Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM), which is a modern American approach to classical meridian acupuncture that draws from both classical meridian acupuncture and Western physical medicine, notably the technique of myofascial release of soft-tissue constrictions or trigger points to aid or relieve pain syndromes.
Joseph is also trained in Japanese acupuncture. This style is known as an effective style of acpuncture which draws from the classical acupuncture while incorporating modern Western biomedicine principles to understand the patient's complaint. This style utilizes abdominal palpation, moxibustion, and release points to confirm that certain symptoms have changed after the treatment.
In addition to Joseph's training, he has practiced in the New York area for the past ten years as a NY State Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in manual trigger point release and deep medical massage for the treatment of any type of pain caused by stress, trauma, or sports injuries. He also practices Tui Na, Amma therapy, and Swedish (European) massage for pain and or relaxation.
Joseph is trained in Chinese herbal medicine and Kanpo herbal medicine. He has a strong background in TCM and Chinese herbal medicine for the past ten years and is committed to the field and helping people recover from illness and pain.
Joseph also incorporates dietary recommendations, lifestyle changes, Tai Chi, and Qi Gong exercises into his practice when necessary.
