Dr. Simmons received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry (Magna Cum Laude) from Campbell University. He earned his Doctorate in Medicine at East Carolina University, Brody School of Medicine in 1994 and did his General Surgery Residency at Yale University School of Medicine, Hospital of St. Raphael, from 1994 to 1997. In 2000. Dr. Simmons earned his Doctorate in Natural Health from Bryson University.
In 1980, Dr. Simmons was a Distinguished Honor Graduate from the Primary Non-Commissioned Officer’s Academy. In 1981 he was a Distinguished Honor Graduate of the Special Forces Medic Qualification Course.
Between 1985 and 1989, Dr. Simmons was President and Vice President of the Pre-Med Allied Health Honor Society, on the President’s List for Academic Honors and a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. In 1991, he received Honors in Neurobiology. That same year, he won First Place in the Sixth Annual Medical Research Presentation. In 1993, Dr. Simmons received “A” with Honors, in Chairman’s Surgical Clerkship; Honors in Vascular Surgery Acting Internship and Honors in Critical Care Acting Internship.
Since the 90s, Dr. Simmons has contributed to various medical and surgical publications. He has also been a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery since 2001.
In his spare time, Dr. Simmons enjoys sailing and skiing. His hobbies also include Chinese watercolor painting and Bonsai trees. He’s a proud member of the American Orchid Society (AOS).
