X's Q & A

Q&A: What is the youngest age to be able to get fat injections for butt augmentation?

The youngest age that we usually do fat transfer (Brazilian Butt Lift) can be done as young as 18 (legal age).  However most of the patients in our practice are in their late 20s to 30s and more.  A one on one consultation with a board certified surgeon is a must.  After history and physical you and your surgeon can come up with a plan.  Hope this helps.

Q&A: How can I handle panic attacks without medication?

If you haven’t already done so, I recommend that you see a mental health therapist to help you with your panic attacks.  They can fully assess your problems, provide treatment, make recommendations and refer you to a psychiatrist who can prescribe and manage your medications.

Q&A: Do I qualify for gastric bypass surgery?

We look at a lot of different factors to determine if a patient is a candidate. From what I can see, you both would be potential candidates.

Q&A: What are the treatment option for a 12 year old that has growth plates that have not fused?

The growth plate (apophysis) of the 5th metatarsal typically and normally fuses between the ages of 9 to 14 years.  The presence of a growth plate on x-ray in a 12 year old girl is not abnormal, just rest easy.  Unless there was an injury you didn’t mention, my best advice is to assure good bone health by regular exercise, eating a good amount of fruit and vegetables (especially legumes and green leafy vegetables, an excellent source of magnesium) including foods rich in calcium (Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, collards, kale, mustard greens, turnip greens…. You know, the stuff kids just LOVE!).

Q&A: Can you get symmetry with a breast lift?

Breast lift surgery is done by making pre surgical markings to try and get the best symmetry between the two lifted breasts as possible. In uneven breasts, which are quite common in breast lift and breast reduction surgery, better symmetry is usually obtained than before surgery. But perfectly symmetrical breasts can not be guaranteed and rarely happen.

Q&A: Should I worry about addiction if I increase my Xanax dosage to help me sleep?

Hello Peter,
Thank you for your question.  I am sorry to hear you are having such difficulty sleeping.
I am a psychologist so I do not have specialized training in psychotropic medications like Xanax.  I would advise you to consult with a psychiatrist about your medication concerns.
As far as your difficulties sleeping, you may want to consider entering individual therapy to explore possible reasons for your sleep difficulties, and also learn ways to relax yourself which will facilitate falling asleep easier.  Sometimes individuals who are experiencing anxiety or depression have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, and therapy can help to identify possible issues contributing to the feelings of depression and/or anxiety.  If the issues are resolved, sleep may come much easier.
I hope my answer has been helpful.  Take care.

Q&A: How much does it cost to repair an earlobe?

Q&A: What can I do about anhedonia and depression?

I'm sorry to hear that you suffer from depression, irritability, and anhedonia.  Diagnosing you based on the scant information provided would be difficult.  Whether you are diagnosed with depression or bipolar, proper diagnosis and treatment with a qualified mental health professional would be most beneficial in helping you deal with your changing moods.  The proper psychotropic medication might also be helpful in regulating your moods.  I encourage you to take the next step and make an appointment with a qualified mental health professional.  Good Luck!
