Our center is comprehensive by design to provide you with the best possible tools to reach your goal of healthy weight loss, metabolic health, and improved quality of life.
Center for Metabolic Health and Weight Management
- Patients are our passion.
- Our physicians and associates are our pride.
- Healing is our joy.
The process of weight loss, with improvement in health and quality of life, is not accomplished by surgery, diet or medicine alone. Hard work, support, and appropriate tools are required.
That is why our staff is here to support you through the entire weight loss process and provide you all the tools you need to be successful long term at making this life-affirming change.
We will be widely known for the way our physicians, nurses and associates combine sophisticated medical technology with spirituality and compassion. Shoulder-to-shoulder, we stand united in our community to care for those in need. We will be a leader in service excellence.
Our approach to management of Obesity and associated Metabolic Disease is comprehensive by nature. Obesity is a complex, multifactorial chronic disease and, therefore, is not generally “cured” by a single medical or surgical intervention alone. Similar to the approach to any other chronic disease, a multidisciplinary team with a coordinated treatment program is necessary.
We have assembled a comprehensive team to provide you with the support and tools you will need to be successful not only in weight loss, but in changing your life.
We believe there are many tools and approaches to weight management and are prepared to help all patients with health issues related to obesity.
Bariatric Surgery Procedures
Surgical weight loss (Bariatric surgery) is the premier tool used in the treatment of the disease of obesity. All of the procedures are powerful tools to assist a change in eating habits and behaviors over the long term. However, they are not magic bullets, rather, they need to be used in conjunction with nutritional education, psychosocial counseling and exercise therapy to truly be successful in changing behaviors and lifestyles long term.
Laparscopic Weight Loss Surgery
The Laparoscopic approach to surgical procedures was a major advance in Minimally-Invasive surgery because it allowed access to the abdominal cavity without making big incisions. The improvements in optics and illumination (fiberoptics) in the late 1980’s allowed better visualization of all internal structures than one could get with a big incision. Improvements in optics leading to higher magnification and higher definition (like watching the best HD TV as opposed to regular TV), as well as instrumentation, have led to significant minimization of surgical trauma and decreases in complications of surgery.
Overall Benefits Laparscopic
- Enhanced visualization of anatomy
- Minimally-Invasive: Less traumatic
- Less painful: Quicker recovery
- Minimal scar
- Much less chance of hernia or wound infection
- Fewer overall complications
Robotic Weight Loss Surgery
The daVinci Surgical System, a state-of-the-art robotic technology, is the most advanced surgical equipment in use today. The daVinci system provides significantly enhanced visualization through higher resolution (better than the best HD TV), greater magnification, and 3-D imaging (as opposed to the usual 2-D) for greater depth perception compared to standard Laparoscopy.
The daVinci Robotic platform is a major step forward in minimally-invasive surgery, providing not only enhanced visualization, but improved ergonomics, allowing greater precision, dexterity, and control over instruments. This is especially valuable in performing intricate and complex bariatric procedures like the Roux-Y gastric bypass and revisional surgery.
Using the daVinci Robot to perform these advanced procedures allows the surgeon to maintain precision and control over fine dissection and suturing even in patients with very thick abdominal walls, where traditional laparoscopic instruments are difficult to use effectively.
- Enhanced Visualization with Improved Image Quality: 3D-Enhanced HD-Magnified
- Enhanced Ergonomics: Enhanced Maneuverability: Markedly Improved Dexterity, Precision, and Control
- Elimination of Torque: Ability to Perform Intricate Operations in Patients with Thicker Abdominal Walls
- Most Advanced Minimally-Invasive Approach: Improved Outcomes with Fewer Complications
- Less Painful: Quicker Recovery
I found him caring and a good listener. His office staff was very freindly and very organized. They followed up on everything. They have a very good after care in place. The program is very carefully monitored. I have found everyone very helpful. One thing I like is I feel every time I called with a question I got a person not a machine message all the time. I feel surgical competence and bedside manner are equally important. I highly recommend my surgeon. ( Dr. David Von Rueden)-DR, Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery Patient
