What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
Due to my background in both medicine as well as surgery, I am able to address comprehensively the facial concerns of my patients and elevate the quality of my treatment recommendations. No part of the face or jaw is left without attention, giving my patients a unique advantage in making informed decisions.
When (your age) did you first realize you wanted to enter the health & medical field? And did you experience anything in particular to motivate you to achieve this prestigious goal?
I decided at age 12 to pursue my surgical specialty due to the ability to comprehensively treat the organ of identity - i.e. the face. This gives me the wonderful opportunity to dramatically improve my patient's quality of life and truly make a difference. From repair of a cleft lip to the reconstruction of a deformity from birth or accident, no other field of medicine is as rewarding. The ability to reverse many of the effects of time through complex surgical solutions and the rejuvenation of the mouth and facial structures, people's lives are impacted in ways not possible with other treatment modalities.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
While no outcome is ever perfect, as close as I can come is a satisfied patient who will attest to an improvement in form and function that is life changing for them.
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
Rhinoplasty, or cosmetic surgery of the nose, is the most challenging procedure in all of cosmetic procedures. The nose has the ability to change the entire face and is therefore one of the most important components to address in facial rejuvenation or reconstruction.
In a perfect world, when would you like to retire, where would you go and what would you do?
Retirement is the ability to continue performing those things that I have dedicated my entire life to. That is, facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Retirement would be an advancement to working on my own terms while continuing to provide care and expertise for as long as I am physically able.
