What is your charity organization of choice and why?
I contribute to Susan G. Komen for the cure and City of Hope. I am a strong proponent of breast cancer research and eduction. Fortunately we are making great strides toward curing breast cancer.
What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
Plastic surgery gives me an artistic outlet. As a former professional ballet dancer I enjoy the artistry involved in rejuvenating, refreshing and renewing each patient.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
I aim for perfection each and every surgery. When patients are happy that's what matters. Surgery is an artistic endeavor with a scientific basis and to achieve perfection is a daily goal.
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
I really enjoy facial rejuvenation. The face is the outward expression of the soul and rejuvenating a patient's face or eyes such that they represent the patient's inner self is truly rewarding.
What procedure would you like to do more of and why?
I went into plastic surgery because I can do so many different and rewarding procedures from breast augmentation to breast reconstruction after cancer to facial and body rejuvenation. Plastic surgeons are the truest generalist-we can do it all.
In a perfect world, when would you like to retire, where would you go and what would you do?
I'll retire after my children are on their own. We'd like to end up in either Savahanna or Charleston, any place warm! I plan to continue my Karate, scuba diving and would really like to play golf more than once a summer.
