Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
Most of what I do is rewarding, because Plastic Surgery ranges from correcting severe birth defects in children, reconstructive surgery after trauma and cosmetic surgery for body enhancement. I have done it all and the rewards are the happy patients and how Plastic Surgery changes their lives in a positive way.
What is your charity organization of choice and why?
American Cancer Society Senior Concerns
What does living in the Thousand Oaks community mean to you?
It is a great place to live and practice medicine. Thousand Oaks is a family oriented community, which makes for a great place for children to grow up in. Besides it is close to Los Angeles and all the great cultural events that go on yearly.
What is your favorite quote or saying?
There a lot of great quotes, I like this one because many of us have experience this. "I think everyone should go to college and get a degree and then spend six months as a bartender and six months as a cabdriver. Then they would really be educated". What it really means is that the real education came from real world experiences.
What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
I have always had a creative mind and an innate ability to visualize how to move tissue in a way to make the human body more pleasing to look at.
Finish this sentence: If I weren't a doctor I would be___.
Wildlife photographer, my second passion is to travel and see nature and the wonders of other parts of the world.
When (your age) did you first realize you wanted to enter the health & medical field? And did you experience anything in particular to motivate you to achieve this prestigious goal?
I was motivated by my father in my mid-twenties when working on the County Road Commission, he asked me if I planned to do this all my life. It was like a light bulb went off in my head. Within a few weeks I moved out of my apartment, went back to school and worked hard to get into and through medical school.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
The perfect outcome of a surgery is when my patient tells me she is so happy and then sends me her friends, relatives and acquaintances
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
Now a days my practice is almost all Cosmetic. My 2 favorite procedures are Breast Augmentation, Rhinoplasty and Otoplasty. In the reconstructive area, my favorite is repairing a Cleft Lip
What procedure would you like to do more of and why?
Again Breast Augmentation, Rhinoplasty and Otoplasty because I find these the most interesting
In a perfect world, when would you like to retire, where would you go and what would you do?
When I retire, I plan to do more volunteer work using my Plastic Surgery skills to help people in other countries who don't have access to corrective surgery. Most likely this would be helping children with Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate
