Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
The best thing about what we do at Artistic Expressions Dentistry is that we get to change people's lives on a daily basis. There is nothing better than seeing tears of joy when someone sees their new smile in the mirror for the first time.
What is your charity organization of choice and why?
My wife and I do a lot of charity work in our community. The area has been very good to us over the years and we feel it is our obligation to give something back. I volunteer to serve the working poor of the area through the Doylestown Hospital Free Dental Clinic as well as The American Dental Association's program for Seniors. We also do a lot of fundraising for the ALS association. My older brother has been diagnosed with ALS. At least for now, he is doing well. We are very grateful for that.
What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
I love performing Cosmetic Dentistry. Some people may think that any type of cosmetic procedure is shallow, but I have seen the transformations in the personalities of some of our patients. The smile is so important. We are often judged by others by the way we carry ourselves. The smile is one of the most important keys to how we are feeling.
When (your age) did you first realize you wanted to enter the health & medical field? And did you experience anything in particular to motivate you to achieve this prestigious goal?
My Upper Dublin High School yearbook says that I was going to be a dentist. I always knew that's what I wanted to do. Back then, the fields of Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry were in their infancy. I have gotten to really enjoy those fields most since they have the ability to transform our patients lives.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
The perfect outcome of our cosmetic procedures is that no one can tell that we did anything. It looks completely natural. The patient just winds up with a terrific looking smile that looks like they were born with it.
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
We just love to perform Porcelain Veneers because in as little as two visits we can completely transform not only someone's smile, but the hidden personality behind the smile.
In a perfect world, when would you like to retire, where would you go and what would you do?
I would like to retire to San Diego when my children are out of school. My wife and I lived there back in the early 80's. It holds a special fondness to us since that's where it all began for us as newlyweds.
What Sets Us Apart
What we do different than every other Cosmetic Dentistry office is that we reverse engineer the smile design process. We begin by figuring out in our patient's mouth what the end result should look like BEFORE we start, and work backwards from there.
