Brenton B. Koch, MD, is a Board Certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He is certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and specializes exclusively in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the face.
Dr. Koch has continued to maintain active involvement in clinical research, with numerous publications, research awards and national presentations to his credit.
Dr. Koch resides in Des Moines with his wife, Heidi M. Koch MD, a local pediatric physician and their three children, Nicole, Blake and Tatum. He enjoys sports of all kinds and, as a former personal trainer and college football player, avidly enjoys exercise. His favorite activities, however, are those spent with his family.
Dr. Koch is supported by administrative and operating room staffs that are specifically trained to care for plastic and reconstructive surgery patients. Each year this team of professionals prepares for and performs hundreds of facial surgeries treating problems relating to appearance, accident, or disease.
Dr. Carithers and Dr. Koch's staff of experienced office personnel is dedicated to a personal and involved role in patient care. Any questions regarding the consultation, pre-operative information or follow-up treatment will be answered by the medical personnel in a professional and confidential manner. Their knowledge and concern will help ease your experience with the surgery and recovery process.
The consultations with Dr. Carithers and Dr. Koch are a time for you to talk about the conditions you want to have corrected or improved. You will first meet our nurse who will review your medical history and check your blood pressure and other vital signs. Dr. Carithers and Dr. Koch will then perform a detailed examination and analysis of your areas of concern. You and Dr. Carithers and Dr. Koch will discuss the various options available and the improvements you can expect. You will learn about the procedures, risks, and recovery times. Photographs of patients who have agreed to let Dr. Carithers and Dr. Koch show their appearance before and after surgery will help you visualize the changes that are possible.
If you would like, arrange to bring a friend or relative. A supportive friend can remind you of questions to ask and help you remember the details of the discussion later.
Additionally, medical photographs will be taken during your visit. These photographs will accurately record the existing condition and be used for reference during the surgical procedure.
