SHORT REVIEW: Dr. Edds was SO wonderful, I turned down 3 of the highest rated plastic surgeons in Louisville to travel 2 hours to Dr. Edds in Owensboro. Both Dr. Edds and his staff made me feel comfortable and they were very patient with the questions I had. Even after countless obstacles (mostly my fault) Dr. Edds worked hard to make my surgery stress free. He went as far as contacting me on his personal cell phone before the surgery to make sure I had my medication. If you live out of town, do not dismiss Dr. Edds. He is worth the drive!!
DETAILED REVIEW: I originally wanted a breast augmentation after my sister got one about 4 years ago. I wanted to pay for the surgery without financing, so I saved a couple of years and when I had enough, I began scheduling consultations with different doctors.
My sister insisted that I visit Dr. Edds because she had a wonderful experience with him. However, at this point, I was living in Louisville, and I didn't think it was worth traveling back and forth to Owensboro.
I started the search in Louisville for a doctor that I liked. I visited 3 of the highest rated doctors in Louisville and found that none of the 3 felt "right." The first doctor rushed through the consultation without allowing me to ask any questions. He truly made me feel as if I were just another patient and did not make me feel as if he was interested my desires. He simply told me what he felt I could and couldn't do. The second doctor in Louisville let me voice my concerns, which were that I would go too big and my breasts would look unnatural. However, even after knowing my biggest concern with the surgery, he pushed me to go bigger than I wanted. The third doctor was a mixture of the 1st and 2nd. I was disappointed because these were supposed to be some of the best plastic surgeons in the state, and they weren't giving me the time or attention I would be paying for.
Finally, I decided it was worth the drive to try Dr. Edds. I WAS NOT disappointed. The second I walked into Dr. Edds office I felt comfortable. I took my sister along for support and both Dr. Edds and his staff immediately remembered her even though it had been 4 years since her surgery. His staff is filled with some of the sweetest most genuine women you will find. I did not feel as if they were judging me like I felt with some of the doctors in Louisville.
Once I got back to his office for the consultation, Dr. Edds made me feel so comfortable. He did not simply jump right into telling me what he thought, but he got to know me and asked me what I wanted. He joked around a little and made me laugh, which made the process a lot more comfortable. He was very honest with what he thought I could handle being as small as I am and listened carefully when I told him my concerns about going too big or looking unnatural. He explained that his goal is always a natural looking breast and showed pictures of his work. He gave me a suggested size, asked for my input, and we agreed on an implant. I fully trusted him.
When I left his office, I knew he was my surgeon. The next day I called the office to schedule my surgery. The receptionist, Stevie, was very sweet and helpful. She knew that I was from out of town and agreed to let me complete the pre-operative meeting over the phone.
A couple of days later, I remembered I had a 4th consultation scheduled in Louisville, so I called to cancel it. Somehow, (probably because I was in a hurry at the moment) I mixed up the numbers and accidentally dialed Dr. Edds and managed to CANCEL MY SURGERY! Keep in mind I had no idea I canceled my surgery. I thought I canceled a consultation with another doctor. Two weeks later when I called Dr. Edds for my pre-operative meeting, the error was discovered. Stevie informed me that they had documented that I canceled my surgery. At first I had no idea why they thought I canceled. Then I realized what had happened. I apologized and told them it was completely my fault. They informed me that they already filled the spot for my surgery, but we're able to move things around and reschedule my surgery for ONE day later than the original surgery. I was so thankful especially considering it was MY ERROR.
Once everything was worked out. I received my pre-operative packet that was very organized and informative. I had no doubts about what to do before my surgery. They also sent my prescriptions to get filled. When I went to have them filled, the pharmacists told me my pain medicine could not be filled because there was an error with the prescription. It was after office hours and my surgery was the next day, so I was very nervous that I would not have my pain medications in time for my surgery. Not knowing what else to do, I called the emergency number given to me by Stevie. To my surprise, I was put through to Dr. Edds himself. When I explained the situation to him, he was very sympathetic and assured me that they would have my prescription when I arrived in the morning. He even texted me later that night to assure me that everything was ready to go.
The day of the surgery went very smoothly. Dr. Edds went reviewed the procedure and confirmed the size for my implants. After the surgery, the staff was still very friendly even though I ended up vomiting from the anesthesia. My recovery went very quickly. It is now almost 8 months later, and my breast look natural and fit the size of my body perfectly.
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Edds. I visited a lot of good doctors and he was truly the only doctor who was patient, personable, and made me feel comfortable.
