Even though women are often stereotyped as driving demand for cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures, a recent study released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) indicates that more men than ever are heading to the cosmetic surgeon for their own male makeover.
The ASPS reports that 1.1 million men underwent some type of cosmetic procedure in 2010 alone. The baby boomer generation continues to drive demand for procedures such as facelifts, Botox, liposuction, and other figure-enhancing surgeries. Seniors have also been jumping on the bandwagon to improve their appearance with plastic surgery in recent years.

In a recent press release, Dr. Tenley Lawton, a board-certified plastic surgeon in California, states, “I have seen more men than ever before within the last 18 months. Here in Orange County, the capital of beautiful people, men feel the pressure to look young and feel their best.”
According to the ASPS study, there is a growing demand for enhancements that don’t necessarily involve extensive surgery. There was a noticeable increase in demand for facelifts, ear surgery, and fillers such as Botox, liposuction, and breast reduction procedures in 2010 compared to 2009.
Some of the most-requested procedures for men include: rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, facelift, gynecomastia, and liposuction.
