December 6th is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women. LocateADoc.com would like to recognize the Cosmetic and Reconstructive Support (CRS) Program that the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) offers to survivors of domestic violence. The NCADV has a firm partnership with facial plastic surgery doctors and cosmetic dentistry doctors from across the country that volunteer their services and assist survivors of domestic violence who cannot afford cosmetic and reconstructive surgery and dentistry needed to remove physical scares and injuries received by their spouse or partner.
One of the programs partnered with the NCADV is FACE TO FACE. The FACE TO FACE Program was started by the Educational and Research Foundation for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) in 1994. This program offers facial plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery to survivor victims repairing damages to the face, head, and neck caused by the domestic attacker.
Another program partnered with the NCADV is the Give Back a Smile (GBAS) Program. The National Humanitarian Program of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) and the AACD Charitable Foundation started it in 1999. The GBAS Program have cosmetic dentistry doctors who offer cosmetic and restorative dentistry repairing the front teeth in the “smile zone” caused by domestic violence.
On the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence website the Cosmetic and Reconstructive Support Program offers applications for associations wanting to donate their services for a good cause as well as applications for victims of domestic violence in need of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery caused by their spouse or partner.
