Facetime, Skype, and other Technologies Fuel Demand for Botox

As more people turn to web technologies like Facetime, Skype, and online chat to stay in touch with friends and colleagues, plastic surgeons are noticing an increasing trend for Botox injections. Video-chat programs and even the increase in Facebook usage over recent years may be one of the reasons why many people are seeking out “touch up” treatments like Botox, fillers, and skin tightening treatments.

Patricia Foley, a nurse for Shapiro Plastic Surgery, talked about this emerging trend recently. She states, “With the higher definition and higher resolution on the cameras, everybody is more aware of even the finest lines on their face.” This means that many Americans could be turning to fillers and Botox to get rid of those noticeable lines and wrinkles that are often more apparent on a computer camera.

Statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgery confirm this trend. The latest numbers show that demand for chin jobs has increased dramatically recently – an increase of about 71 percent – and Botox is still one of the most sought-after trends. For many, Botox is an affordable and effective procedure for managing lines and wrinkles. A single Botox injection is all it takes to temporarily get rid of lines and wrinkles that give away your age.
