Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Simpson and Snooki …what’s in the water? It seems that nearly everyone on TV or film is pregnant. So the question we beg to ask is, will the Mommy Makeover trend increase in 2012?
The list is long, starting with Beyonce who kicked off the year when she and Jay- Z announced the birth of their baby girl. Now it seems everyone is racing to the delivery room.
Winter Wipeout host Vanessa Manillo and Nick Lahey announced Manillo’s pregnancy on Live! With Kelly this month. Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal didn’t make any announcement, but when her baby bump surfaced last November, her rep confirmed she was six months along. Alyson Hannigan is expecting her second child and so is reality star Kourtney Kardashian.
Mommy Makeover Trend
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports that more than 325,000 mommy makeovers procedures were performed last year on women ages 20 to 39.
Dr. Michelle Hardaway, out of Farmington Hills Michigan says a lot of women like the mommy makeover because of the cost in savings, “When multiple procedures are performed at the same time, there is a cost savings as compared to performing each one individually.”
What is a Mommy Makeover?
A mommy makeover is a group of procedures that help restore a woman’s body to pre pregnancy status. The group of procedures can be anything from breast implants combined with liposuction, to a face lift combined with a butt lift. The choice is made by the patient and doctor. Dr. Hardaway says there is a common request in her office. “In my practice (the most popular combination is), tummy tuck with breast lifts with or without implants.”
