As her funeral draws near, many people are reflecting on the woman who wowed audiences with her powerful voice and her effortless looks. This combination elevated Whitney Houston to become one of the most successful singers of all time. Her face not only drew audiences, but it drew the attention of a modeling agency when she was young.
Houston’s former assistant Robin Crawford recently told Esquire Magazine, Houston was working for the prestigious Wilhelmina modeling agency after being discovered on the street as a young woman.
“She was walking in front of Carnegie Hall and someone walked up to her and said, "There's a modeling agency upstairs that's looking for someone just like you." She walked upstairs and they signed her,” writes Crawford in an open letter to Esquire, following her good friend’s death this past week.
What Made Whitney Houston So Beautiful?
Dr. Eric Joseph, facial plastic surgeon in West Orange New Jersey, says Houston’s smile was one of her most noticeable features and one any person would envy.
“Her smile was consistently asymmetrical with the right side of her mouth rising higher than her left making this most attractive feature unmistakable,” said Dr. Joseph.
Tmz is reporting Houston’s final doctor visit included teeth whitening for that smile. No one knew, it would be one of the last time anyone would see that smile.
But her smile wasn’t the only feature that caught people’s attention.
“She also had an Asian quality in her eyes. Whitney's Asian looking, almond-shaped eyelids had an attractive feline appearance,” said Dr. Joseph, who also said the singer had flawless skin.
While Joseph says most patients do not ask for celebrity facial features, some do come in with photos to give him an idea of what they would like to look like.
“Most experienced facial plastic surgeons are aware that surgical or non-surgical interventions may be used to improve or enhance certain facial features, not change them,” said Joseph.
Joseph, who specializes in rhinoplasty (nose jobs) also, commented on Houston’s attractive nose.
“Her distinctly African-American nose was not too wide and well proportioned for her face,” said Joseph.
When asked in a recent interview for US magazine, about what she rememberd most about Whitney Houston, singer Janet Jackson said her “beautiful soul”. Many will remember her this weekend, for that beautiful face, too.
Whitney Houston will be laid to rest next to her father, following a funeral at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, NJ. The funeral is expected to be broadcast on television and on the Internet.
