Actress and former fitness guru Jane Fonda recently appeared on the Today show to share why she underwent plastic surgery. The star is now 73 and says that’s every happy and confident about her current in relationship. However, she felt that her appearance on the outside wasn’t a true reflection of the person she has become on the inside.
She says she was walking down the street one day and caught a glimpse of herself and thought, “Oh my God, it’s me. I feel so great and so rested and I look so different and I just decided – and I’m not proud of it – I decided I wanted to look more like how I feel.” She says she never really felt pressured to maintain a certain image and underwent surgery on her own accord.
Fonda underwent a series of procedures to have work done on her chin, neck, and undereye area. While she is well aware that the work she had done was to counteract the effects of the aging process, she has fought another battle where genetics were to blame. Despite all the exercise she has done throughout her career, Fonda did have to get a knee and hip replacement. Fonda has also suffered from bulimia, and states that it is possible for people to overcome a food addiction. She has battled low self-esteem issues but these haven’t taken over her life.
On the show, Fonda makes it clear that she is happier now than she has ever been.
