Dermal Fillers Can Delay the Need for Plastic Surgery

Dermal Fillers Can Delay the Need for Plastic SurgeryIf you’ve been thinking about plastic or cosmetic surgery to get rid of wrinkles and lines, you may be able to defy aging without having to go under the knife.

An unnamed plastic surgeon from Texas recently told a consultation company that Botox and other non-surgical treatments be effective for postponing the need for any type of surgery. The logic behind this is that patients who want to maintain their youthful appearance without spending a lot of money can turn to minimally-invasive procedures such as Botox injections and other dermal fillers and get the same results as surgery.

Getting dermal fillers may also make it less likely that the patient has to undergo any type of cosmetic or plastic surgery treatment in the near future. Many dermal fillers can provide results for up to six months or more at a time and do require much downtime. Facial plastic surgery, brow lifts and other cosmetic procedures typically involve extensive downtime and are much costlier than minimally invasive procedures.

Take a look at some of these Botox and minimally-invasive procedure before and after photos to see examples of successful outcomes with various procedures. If you’ve been thinking about going under the knife or want to get injectable fillers, set up a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area to discuss your options.

Injectable Filler Trends

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) reports a significant increase in demand for non-surgical plastic surgery and cosmetic treatments, and demand for Botox, Restylane, Juvederm and other fillers continues to increase as more Americans become comfortable with the idea of a temporary fix. These fillers work by plumping up the skin tissue with various compounds or “freezing” the muscles to prevent wrinkle formation.

When these are injected into the right places, the result is smoother and firmer skin, and a “plumped up” and youthful look. Injectable fillers can be applied to the cheeks, above the brows, around the nose and even injected into the lips as a lip augmentation procedure. Results can be noticed immediately, and are also temporary. Some fillers last for a few months, while others may last for up to a year.
