While many people work with a dietician or nutritionist as part of a nutritional counseling program when they are trying to lose weight, part of the weight loss process often requires keeping track of food and calories consumed over the course of the day, and logging this information into a journal. People who have resolved to lose weight this year may now have some extra help with the Lose It! iPhone App. The iPhone application has been developed by FitNow and features a large database of calorie information.
According to theNew York Times, the application has been downloaded 3.5 million times since it was launched 14 months ago, and the free program makes it easy for patients to keep track of their weight and calories, and log in their food intake on a daily basis. It’s a simple and efficient program, and users can access a list of over 21,000 food items. They can also link their data to www.Loseit.com to see full-screen reports of their progress, trade diet notes from friends and post their progress on Facebook.
The Lose It! Application promises to be a streamlined weight loss application and is designed for the iPod Touch and the iPhone. In addition to keeping track of calories, the user can track nutrients including fiber, protein, carbohydrates and fat for each meal. They can also set a daily calorie “budget” and adjust it as they work through the weight loss process.
Mashable.com listed the Lose It! iPhone App as one of its top 10 free iPhone apps to help people lose weight and get in shape, and gave this one an App Store Rating of 3.5 stars. Other popular iPhone Apps for weight loss include the iPump Free Workout, iMapMyRun and Calorie Tracker.
