Millions of people are turning to cosmetic surgery overseas to save on the costs of treatment, but when money is no object, hopping aboard a cruise ship for a medi-spa treatment is proving to be a popular solution.
This summer's partnership between Norweigan Cruise Line and Steiner Transocean, LLC unveiled the first cruise line to offer BOTOX® Cosmetic, Restylane® and Perlane® facial aesthetic treatments on board its fleet of Mandara Spa-sponsored ships.
These specialty cruise vacations allow guests to enjoy on-board facial treatments such as facials, microdermabrasion and now, procedures commonly found at the medspa.
Leonard Fluxman, president and chief executive officer of Steiner Leisure, said, "We believe this expansion of our medi-spa services provides yet another opportunity to perpetuate our philosophy of imparting inner and outer beauty for our guests. As beauty and wellness needs continue to evolve, we always strive to present our guests with a premium selection of treatments that suit their individual lifestyle and preferences." The original launch took place on the Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Spirit and Norwegian Gem ships, and the rest of the fleet will be treated to BOTOX® this Fall.
Skeptics of 'vacation makeovers' are hesitant to set sail on a cruise for facial treatments, but many people are already enjoying their adventure at sea with a wrinkle removal treatment on the side. The injections are part of the cruise ship's medi-spa program, and are supervised by board-certified Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Brad Herman. Other options on board include ionithermie cellulite reduction treatments and teeth whitening procedures.
