Babak Chehroudi, DMD, PhD., Dr.
Dr. Babak Chehroudi, DMD., Ph.D. - Dr. Chehroudi has practiced dentistry since 1982. In 1991 he completed a Ph.D. degree in Oral Biology from the University of British Columbia (UBC). He is a part-time teacher/researcher and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, UBC. Dr. Chehroudi's research publications appear in the leading peer-reviewed scientific journals in the areas of biomaterials and interactions of living tissues with dental materials. His clinical interests are fixed and removable dental prostheses including implants, restorative & cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, and geriatric dentistry.
Dr. Ken Yaegaki, DDS., Ph.D. - Following obtaining his DDS degree in Japan in 1979, Dr. Yaegaki entered the residency program in maxillofacial surgery at Kurume University in Japan and graduated in 1983. Later, he became interested in the basic sciences of dentistry and successfully defended a Ph.D. thesis on the biochemistry of salivary glands. He is currently a full time professor and director of the Breath Testing Clinic at UBC. He also holds several joint and visiting professorship positions with the dental and medical faculties of universities in Japan such as Nippon, Kyusyu, Kurume, Tsurumi, and Tohoku. Dr. Yaegaki has published extensively on the cause of bad breath and continues his research on the topic at UBC. He is a consultant to companies making dental products such as Wrigley, and conducting research for Arm & Hammer. His clinical interests are oral surgery, oral malodor, geriatric and restorative dentistry. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Kell Derhami, DDS., Msc., Ph.D. He is a graduate of the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and has practiced dentistry since 1991. He received a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology in 1994 and a degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Medical Sciences in 2000 from the University of Alberta. Dr. Derhami was a clinical and a research fellow at the Center of Excellence of Head and Neck Reconstruction in Edmonton, a clinical instructor at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta. He is currently a part-time clinical instructor at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia. He has authored several scientific papers in respected scientific journals on several subjects such as dental materials, development of teeth, adhesion of restorative materials, and implantology. His clinical interests are in the areas of esthetic dentistry, emergency dentistry and root-canal therapy.
