Dr. Babak Chehroudi, DMD., Ph.D. - Dr. Chehroudi has practiced dentistry since 1982. In 1991 he completed a Ph.D. degree in Oral Biology from the University of British Columbia (UBC). He is a part-time teacher/researcher and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, UBC. Dr. Chehroudiýs research publications appear in the leading peer-reviewed scientific journals in the areas of biomaterials and interactions of living tissues with dental materials. His clinical interests are fixed and removable dental prostheses including implants, restorative & cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, and geriatric dentistry.
Dr. Clifford Pau, Bsc., Msc., DMD., - Following obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 1998, Dr. Pau completed a research oriented program at the Faculty of Pharmacology which earned him a Master of Science degree in 2000. He studied the mechanism of pain induction and therapeutic choices, an area of expertise very much in demand in today's dentistry. Following successful completion of his master thesis in the spring of 2000, he was accepted in the Doctor of Dental Medicine program at UBC. Dr. Pau continued his research during his dental training and was the recipient of the prestigious Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) award for two consecutive years for his research work in improvement of teaching methods in dental anatomy and ergonomics using advanced computer virtual reality techniques. His research papers were presented and published in the proceedings of annual meetings of the American Dental Education Association in 2003 and 2004. He completed his dental training in 2004 and was awarded with a D.M.D. degree. His clinical interests are restorative dentistry, root canal therapy, dentistry for children, geriatric dentistry, and pain control. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Hugh Kim, DMD., He obtained his dental degree from the University de Montreal in 2000. After completing the dental residency program at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, he commenced specialty training in Periodontics (gum disease) at the University of British Columbia in 2001. He is currently completing a Master degree in dental science (Msc.), and his research thesis is on studying the nature of attachment between titanium implants and living soft tissues. Dr. Kim successfully completed the requirements of the National Dental Specialty Examination of the Royal Collage of Dentists of Canada and became a fellow of this society in the fall of 2003. Dr. Kim practices in Richmond, and looks forward to providing periodontal care for the Scident Family Dental Clinic.
