Q&A: Would a tubal reversal or IVF be the recommended way to pregnancy?

Ask A Doctor Question:

I am 36 years old. I had my tubes tied back in 2001. Would Tubal Reversal be the most recommended way or IVF?

James W. Douglas, MD -

IVF has improved so much that it is rare for anyone to have a reversal anymore.  Tubal reversal is a major surgery.  You would miss 3-5 weeks of work.  When you do IVF as an outpatient you are back to work the next day.
Thank you for your  great question.
