All TRAM flap reconstructions give some form of a tummy tuck based on how the tissue flap is harvested.

A TRAM flap is an excellent procedure for a delayed breast reconstruction.  Once healed, it provides a trouble-free lifetime reconstruction.  It DOES provide an effective “tummy tuck”.  It can be done either as a pedicled flap, or as a free flap or DIEP flap.   For many patients, this is the best reconstruction, but not all patients are good candidates.  You need to visit a qualified board certified plastic surgeon who does this procedure to determine what is best for you.

Yes it does give you a tummy tuck, because the tissue from the lower part of the tummy is used to reconstruct the breast.

Yes, a completion tummy tuck can be performed at the same time as a DIEP flap or TRAM flap. It is my preference to perform the DIEP flap because it preserves the muscle and strength on your abdomen.
