I've heard that acupuncure may increase collagen production. Is this true? Please advise. - Rebecca
We have used cosmetic acupuncture to provide a natural "facelift." Some believe that acupuncture stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. While I can't find any scientific evidence to support that hypothesis, cosmetic acupuncture is quite effective. I believe that acupuncture stimulates the fascia and helps tone the muscles rather than stimulate collagen production.
Biweekly treatments are recommended for several weeks and as patients are satisfied, they are not too concerned which mechanism produces the results.
