Q&A: Could I get a nose job at the age of 15 years old?

Ask A Doctor Question:

Could I get a nose job at the age of 15 years old? I am a female who has out grown her 18 year old sister and is soon to pass my mothers height. My nose has always been big and its not that its too big for my face (which it is) it's just that I do not like the shape nor wideness of it. I'm unconfident with it and would like to fix it. My mother and father are all for it because they know it will make me happy. The only problem is finding out if I'm too young or not

It is impossible to say for sure without seeing you but in general there should not be any reason you could not have the surgery.

Typically the rhinoplasty procedure can be done during the teen years.

Consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area and they will guide you as to the proper approach and the timing.

Thanks for your question.

The answer is that I would have to have a consultation/meeting with you and your mom and dad.

The most commonly used age limit for rhinoplasty is 16 years. Physical growth and emotional maturity are felt to be acceptable for most patients at this age.   These criteria are not completely immutable, however. Some patients may be good candidates for rhinoplasty at a younger age.
