"I have about a dozen scars on my shins due to chemical burns (from Nair Hair removal cream) and electrical burns due to bad electrolysis. All of the scars are small (about pea sized) and shallow rather than raised, and are very discolored--brownish purple while I am very fair skinned. I've tried silicone sheets to reduce the scarring, but it hasn't worked at all. I REALLY want to get rid of the discoloration, and would love to get rid of the shallowness, also, but it's the discoloration that bothers me more. What type of surgery (dermabrasion?) could help with with these scars, and what's a rough estimate of the cost? I hope you can help me. About Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning can be performed every 3 to 4 weeks and typically removes several weeks of dead skin cell buildup.The dermaplaning procedure must be performed by a licensed dermatologist or plastic surgeon, and is relatively safe on most skin types.
The treatment is performed quickly and does not cause any pain. Dermaplaning is designed primarily to remove vellous hair, the type of hair that is commonly referred to as ‘peach fuzz’, a very fine hair that the body develops to stay warm. The appearance of vellous hair is more pronounced in some people than in others, and dermaplaning can help to remove this type of hair temporarily.

When someone has acne, they need their vellous hairs to expunge the oil that typically builds up under the skin. If the vellous hairs are removed because of the dermaplaning procedure, the individual may experience more breakouts and even more severe acne.
