How the Affirm Laser Works

According to a report published in the Aesthetic Dermatology News Journal in July/August 2007, the Affirm laser is an impressive procedure for treating acne scars, wrinkles and also for tightening the skin. The Affirm laser uses 1440-nm Nd:YAG with an optional xenon pulsed light (XPL) handpiece. It has been proven safe and effective as a non-ablative skin rejuvenation treatment and does not require any pre-treatment anesthetics or dyes. The Affirm laser system includes an air cooling device that attaches to the handpiece for improved patient comfort, and the medical professional administering the treatment has full control on the level of laser delivery. In most cases, only two passes are required per treatment session, and each session lasts about 15 minutes.
 
The Affirm laser technology delivers tiny dots of energy deep into the skin to create trauma to the tissues. This stimulates the production of collagen, which in turn helps to create a healthy layer of skin and skin that is much more resilient. As the skin continues to contract, the facial tissues appear more toned and you will notice a significant improvement in the texture of your skin.

What to Expect with the Affirm Laser Treatment

The Affirm laser treatment can be performed as a series of treatments depending on the severity of the skin conditions. Most people will see results immediately after the procedure, but the skin may remain red for about 24 hours after the treatment. The medical professional may apply a numbing cream to reduce discomfort from the laser during treatment, but overall, this is a relatively painless treatment.
 
Affirm laser treatments can be administered about one month apart, and may require between five to six treatments to achieve significant results. Since the natural skin cell turnover process takes about 21 days, most people will see gradual results several weeks after the first treatment.
