The Zerona system was introduced in the United States in 2009 and has since been showcased on several television shows and online as an innovative alternative to liposuction. The Zerona laser is designed to reshape and contour the body while melting the fat under the skin – and all without surgery. How the Zerona Laser Works

The Zerona laser is designed to emulsify the fatty material on top of the skin’s surface, thereby providing instant slimming results. The high-powered laser only breaks down fatty tissue under the skin, and does not heat up the dermal tissues in any way. Zerona makes use of the Erchonia Laser Scanner device, a low level laser that has been proven to be safe and effective.
 
The Zerona treatment works by liquefying the subcutaneous fat (the type of fat that sits directly under the skin), and this fat is then eliminated out of the body through the natural detoxification process. The Zerona laser is not designed for people who have visceral fat, because this type of fat sits below the skeletal muscle and cannot be reached with the Zerona laser. People who need to lose this type of fat are encouraged to maintain a healthy diet and adopt an exercise program. 

The Zerona Laser Treatment Process

The Zerona laser is administered directly over bare skin, but the device does not touch the skin or body in any way. The laser is delivered from a safe distance over the target areas, and may be used as part of the pre or post-operation process when undergoing liposuction. The doctor will take your body measurements and may also take a ‘before’ picture so that you can monitor your progress over the course of your treatment plan.
 
The technician will set up the laser for you and ask you to lay down on your back for a 20-minute treatment. You can then turn over onto your stomach for the final 20 minute session. Some offices also offer cellulite massage or deep massage services after the treatment to further promote results. About a week after your last laser treatment, the doctor will take your final measurements and your ‘after’ photo.
