The latest statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) tell us that breast augmentation is the second most popular type of plastic surgery, right behind liposuction. In 2011, 31 percent of all breast augmentation procedures were performed using saline implants while 69 percent were performed with silicone implants. Silicone implants have become widely accepted around the globe, and a newer version – coined ‘gummy bear’ implants – is an emerging trend.
