Common Questions & Answers about Laser Hair Removal

"I have about a dozen scars on my shins due to chemical burns (from Nair Hair removal cream) and electrical burns due to bad electrolysis. All of the scars are small (about pea sized) and shallow rather than raised, and are very discolored--brownish purple while I am very fair skinned. I've tried silicone sheets to reduce the scarring, but it hasn't worked at all. I REALLY want to get rid of the discoloration, and would love to get rid of the shallowness, also, but it's the discoloration that bothers me more. What type of surgery (dermabrasion?) could help with with these scars, and what's a rough estimate of the cost? I hope you can help me. I can't go another summer in pants every day, but I can't bear to wear shorts with all of these ugly scars. Thanks for any help you can give me. Carla"

Extreme Makeovers for Summer – Are You Ready for Yours?

If your healthy diet and rigorous workout routine still haven’t gotten you that beach-ready body, a trip to the plastic surgeon’s office could be just what you need before you hit the sand and water.

Plastic surgery procedures including liposuction, breast augmentation and tummy tucks have become more precise, pain-free and lower in cost in recent years, and trends in plastic surgery continue to show that more people are turning to breast implants, 6-pack implants and facelifts than ever before.

Ready to embrace summer and look your best? Consider these top procedures for your very own extreme makeover:

Buttocks Recontouring

Get your lower body bikini-ready with the right curves and contours – and skip the squats at the gym. Buttocks augmentation procedures can help improve the contours of the hips and add an attractive pocket of fat around the upper thighs and lower abdomen. A non-surgical version of butt implants is a the butt lift body treatment. This is a combination of microdermabrasion for the skin and a lower body wrap that tightens and tones the buttocks and thighs for a more ‘perky’ appearance.

Cellulite Removal with Mesotherapy

Patches of cellulite on the thighs, buttocks and lower legs can make it hard to sport that swimsuit with confidence. Over 80% of women have cellulite, says Tina Alster, MD, director of the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery in Washington, but cellulite can be treated with a series of mesotherapy injections that dissolve the trapped fat under the skin and allow it be shuttled out of the body naturally (Source:  medicinenet.com).

Laser treatments for cellulite removal are another option; these treatments break up fat cells in a similar way as mesotherapy, but do not require any type of invasive treatment. Laser cellulite removal procedures can zap away fatty deposits around the waistline, thighs, buttocks and arms with ease.

The Ultimate Bikini Wax - Laser Hair Removal

If you’re tired of shaving and waxing to remove hair around the bikini line, a laser hair removal treatment can help get rid of unsightly hair permanently. A series of treatments may be necessary to achieve a smooth and clean appearance, but you can finally say goodbye to shaving and waxing after this extensive hair removal treatment. Laser hair removal treatments can also be valuable for the legs, arms, back and chest area, allowing you to hit the beach and soak up that tan without stress.

Healthier Skin with Laser Skin Resurfacing

After a long winter and Spring, your skin may have developed a ruddy or darkened appearance. Laser skin resurfacing techniques can help buff away dead skin cells and increase collagen production from deep within the skin’s layers. Over a period of a few weeks, skin cells can begin to regenerate and leave you with a healthy glow – with or without a tan. Laser skin resurfacing techniques effectively ‘damage’ the skin so that it is forced to repair itself; this process leaves you with a fresh layer of cells and a rejuvenated appearance.

If you’re yearning for that sculpted physique before hitting the beach this season – and have your diet and workout routine in check – a series of plastic and cosmetic procedures may help you get the body you dream of.
