"I was wondering, how to get rid of my double chin? How long do they put you out for surgery? What are the risks? And how much does it cost? How long does it last. Can you exercise your chin and get the same results?"

Lise Petersen spoke with Brisbane cosmetic doctor Dr. Michael Szalay about the Lift-Plus, a versatile procedure that combines his Lift technique with skin excision for patients with loose skin.
The Lift-Plus facial rejuvenation technique is essentially the same as the non-invasive Lift technique - the main difference is that it is used when the patient has excessive, loose skin on their face. "When the face is being operated on, any excessive loose skin is removed through an S-lift incision which typically leaves a barely perceptible line along the front of the ear," explains Brisbane cosmetic doctor Dr. Michael Szalay.
The Lift-Plus is a very versatile procedure that can be used for total facial rejuvenation. All areas of the face from the lower neck to the eyebrow can be improved by adding threads to that area. Treatment can be tailored to the individual patient and some patients may require only one area to be modified while others may require all areas.
Dr. Szalay has performed about 200 Lift-Plus procedures and has found the results to be excellent. He says there are two common reasons people choose to have the procedure done: either they say they look tired but don't feel tired and wish to look refreshed or they are in the workforce and find it is advantageous to look a little younger to enable them to compete with younger colleagues.

AFTER The Lift-Plus with Dr. Szalay |
"The Lift-Plus procedure is suitable for both men and women and I have been performing it on patients aged from their 40s through to their 70s," says Dr. Szalay. It takes two to three hours to perform, depending on whether the jowls alone are being done or both the jowls and the mid face. Recovery takes 10 to 14 days.
"It is very important for a cosmetic surgeon to be able to provide a procedure that rejuvenates and refreshes the face but doesn't leave it looking operated on," he adds. "The Lift-Plus gives a very natural result. In fact the patient's friends often say they look refreshed yet can't quite place their finger on what's been done."
