Do you want a picture-perfect smile? If you have broken or uneven teeth, discolored teeth or just want your teeth to be more attractive, you could be a good candidate for a smile makeover. Dr. Gary Radz, an internationally-known cosmetic dentist based in Denver, Colorado, has been performing “smile makeovers” since 1999 and was recently appointed as the Immediate Past Chairman of the American Association of Cosmetic Dentists (AACD).
Dr. Radz says that the Smile Makeover procedure is fairly popular for many patients, but veneers aren’t the only option when it comes to improving the look of your teeth. In some cases, orthodontics, porcelain crowns and teeth bleaching can be enough to create a beautiful smile with a natural look.
Benefits of Veneers for Your Smile Makeover
Veneers do offer a number of benefits for patients who want to improve their smile without extensive dental work. Dr. Radz states that one of the primary benefits of veneers is that it’s the least invasive way to make a difference in your smile. He states, “Veneers have a very good track record. They could reasonably last between ten to 20 years, and unlike bondoing procedures that can be less predictable, veneersa re the most “life-like” looking.” However, veneers are not without their drawbacks. In many cases, the cosmetic dentist has to remove parts of the healthy tooth to ensure that the veneers will be positioned correctly and will appear natural.
Depending on the type of veneer used, the dentist may need to resurface the tooth and even remove a good amount of tooth enamel to ensure a perfect fit. Also, veneers can be expensive. The average cost for veneers, according to Dr. Radz, can be as low as $80 per tooth to as much as $2,500 per tooth.
Getting Dental Veneers for Your Smile Makeover
If you’ve been considering dental veneers for your smile makeover, take some time to look at these dental veneers before and after photos so that you can see examples of successful outcomes on patients who had similar goals as you. Veneers can help to cover up discoloration, chipped teeth and also make your teeth appear more even when you smile. Dr. Radz points out that your gums have to be in very good health in order to be a good candidate for veneers, and that you need to have a normal “bite” or the placement of the veneers won’t be correct. If your teeth are misaligned in any way, you may need to pursue some type of orthodontic treatment before veneers.
