Heidi Montag Done with Plastic Surgery Addiction -- At Least For Now

Since 2007,  Heidi Montag has been in the media spotlight about her series of plastic surgery procedures. The MTV reality star made news when she had a whopping ten plastic surgery procedures performed in a single day. Montag is now only 24 years old, but began her plastic surgery obsession well before the ripe young age of 21. Before she turned 21, the starlet had already had breast augmentation to increase her cup size from an A-cup to a C-cup, collagen lip injections to enhance her lips, and a nose job to create a more sculpted and delicate-looking nose.

If you want to see more realistic plastic surgery transformations, take a look at these breast augmentation before and after pictures from cosmetic surgeons and board-certified plastic surgeons around the country.

Heidi Montag’s Plastic Surgery Addiction

Montag recently interviewed with People magazine, stating that her plastic surgery binge as “absolutely beyond obsessed”. Some believe that she is a great example of someone who is completely addicted to plastic surgery.

In our article, “The Ins and Outs of Plastic Surgery Addiction”,  we describe some of the common signs of plastic surgery addiction which include an increased need to consult with different physicians and doctors, an obsession with “trying” the latest treatment or procedure, and a preoccupation with a perceived flaw. Many plastic surgery addicts also keep track of celebrity plastic surgery procedures and trends, in hopes of replicating the look of a certain actor or actress.  Heidi Montag tells Newsweek that she began saving pictures of celebrities including Angeline Jolie, and also consulted with her plastic surgeon more than 20 times. She says that she is done with plastic surgery for now, but may consider it again in the future.

Dr. Sydney Coleman, a board-certified plastic surgeon in New York, points out that plastic surgery addiction can be a side effect of the medical condition known as body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). He explains that some men and women who have an imagined defect or an excessive concern over a certain part of their body are more likely to head to their plastic surgeon to “fix” their body, and may end up with a full-blown addiction as a result.

Celebrity Plastic Surgery Addictions

Heidi Montag is not alone when it comes to celebrities addicted to plastic surgery. Many celebrities have been very open about their plastic and cosmetic procedures, and some have been accused of having a full-blown addiction.

OK Magazine reports on Hollywood stars who may have taken things too far in recent years, with this slideshow titled, “Plastic Surgery Addicts – Celebs Who Embrace the Knife Life”. The list includes Tara Reid, Joan Rivers, Tom Jones, Ozzy Osbourne, Cher, Kenny Rogers and Donatella Versace.
