Health Benefits of Acupunture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
The various techniques used in TCM can address a wide range of illnesses. Acupuncture has been shown to be particularly effective in relieving chronic pain--caused by such ailments as arthritis, sinusitis, headache, PMS, and back pain--and has aided postoperative pain as well. It can also ease nausea and other discomforts associated with cancer treatment. In addition, acupuncture has been beneficial in rehabilitation for certain neurologic problems such as stroke. It is also used in treating addiction to cigarettes, alcohol, and other drugs.
Pain Management is a main field in Chinese medicine, especially acupuncture, which has tremendous results for the management of lower back pain, neck pain, various arthritic pains, and migraines.
Infertility. Many women prefer to see a doctor in Chinese Medicine, or an acupuncturist while they are also receiving treatment with drugs or surgery, radiation therapy, or assisted reproductive technology. Many reproductive endocrinologists in the greater Washington DC area recommend using acupuncture to enhance the success rate of their therapies, such as IVF, or IUI.
Neurological Disorders. Acupuncture, esp.scalp acupuncture, chinese herbal medicine and Tuina, i.e.Chinese manual therapies, are very effective in treating stroke(bothe acute and recovery stages), Pakinson disease, Multiple sclerosis (MS), Migraine, movement disorders-dystonia, chorea and tics, neuropathy, etc., migraine, Guiline-Barre Syndrom, as well as various pain conditions.
