Midwest Fertility Center
Dr. Amos Madanes, Director of Midwest Fertility Center, has helped infertile couples to conceive since 1979. A board certified reproductive endocrinologist, he uses the most advanced methods in the treatment of infertility.
"Helping people to conceive takes a great deal of patience on the part of both doctor and patient. The reasons why a woman is not conceiving could be multiple and complex. It is always our aim however, to do everything in our power to help her get pregnant," says Dr. Madanes. "Women today are much more knowledgeable about their bodies as well as about conception and fertility. They call our office asking about laser surgery, laparoscopy and In Vitro Fertilization. We are very impressed with their sophistication and awareness."
Dr. Madanes is one of the few board certified reproductive endocrinologists in Illinois. After receiving his medical degree at Tel Aviv University, Israel, he obtained specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tufts University in Boston. This was followed by an additional two years of training in Reproductive Endocrinology at Tufts and at Harvard University School of Medicine.
Dr. Madanes is well known as an innovator in the field. Through his work at Midwest Fertility Center, he has been a leader in recognizing the importance of considering each patient's total needs - emotional as well as physical - and providing them a supportive environment in which to obtain care. In addition, Dr. Madanes has pioneered a number of new procedures. In December 1989, Dr. Madanes achieved the first pregnancy in the United States pioneering a non-surgical intra-tubal insemination procedure. This technique is especially important to couples where the male has low sperm count.
Before going into private practice, Dr. Madanes held many positions including Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Loyola University in Maywood, IL, and Chief of Gynecology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Sinai Hospital, Chicago, IL.
Dr. Madanes has published many scholarly articles and authored several medical textbook chapters on the subject of infertility and its treatments.
